This is St.Georges Cathedral, Southwark. It was completed in 1848 and is the work of Augustus Pugin. The interior is quite lovely, but the exterior is far from Pugin’s original design due to cost-cutting and compromises. The spire was never added. The quality of the stonemasonry is really quite stunning. Pugin married his third wife, Jane, here and it was the first wedding to be held here. This was the first Catholic cathedral to be built in England in over 300 years.
