Yangon, Myanmar, is indescribable. The Shwedagon pagoda is surely one of the most incredible structures ever. It covered in real gold and looks even more amazing in the sunshine than these photos show. The whole temple complex is vast… it is of epic proportions and a real privilege to be able to see it. It is claimed to be about 2500 years old but there is no proof of this. Architectural historians tend to agree that the current structure dates from the 1500’s and 1600’s and it was raised in height in the late 1800’s. Whatever the actual details might be, the result is truly breathtaking.
