This is a C15 roof structure that was concealed by a plasterboard ceiling in the 1960’s. This was a challenging inspection do to the low light conditions and restricted access and working space. It is a Grade I and permission had to be obtained in advance to cut through the plasterboard. The proposal is for minimal conservation intervention and to remove the plasterboard to allow the C15 sole blackened timbers, which include a crown-post, to be visible once again. The external roof covering will be taken off to facilitate repairs and the installation of thermal insulation.
