The Roundhouse was originally built as an early Australian settlers jail in or around 1831. It survives today as the oldest public building in Western Australia
The lime swirls seen here were found on a boundary wall. The wall is likely to have had some repairs but I think it seems to be mostly original and likely to date from about 1850, or thereabouts.
My search for the evidence of these fascinating lime patterns continues……
