His status is assured and he uniquely arranged an Act of Parliament for his own house and private collection of artifacts to be preserved forever after his death. His story is not without its battles though and towards the latter part of his working career his bitter rivalry with John Nash sometimes caused him to lose out on commissions. This lecture provides a viewpoint on a great architect and a man who genuinely loved the arts and architecture.
