They are found in a small part of Kent near to the villages of Pluckley and Little Chart. Apparently properties on the Dering estate in the C19 had them installed by Sir Edward Cholmeley Dering a sign of respect for an earlier ancestor of the English Civil War – Sir Edward Dering.
